New Short-Game Academy At Gerrards Cross
Swan Golf Designsí busy programme of autumn renovation projects has begun with the design of new short-game practice facilities at Gerrards Cross Golf Club.
Building upon the phased bunker renovation programme that was begun earlier this year, the short-game academy replaces a small chipping green which was no longer fit for purpose, and includes extensive shaping of the green surface and surrounds to simulate all the shots golfers are likely to find on the Gerrards Cross course and elsewhere. The design also includes a bunker reminiscent of those being installed on the golf course, although large enough to accommodate up to four golfers practising at any one time.
SGD are currently overseeing the academyís construction which is being undertaken by Speedcut Contractors.
SGD Team Up With IGD
A strategic partnership has been agreed with International Golf Development to assist with the development of small footprint golf facilities.
Working in conjunction with IGDís synthetic golf playing surfaces and their innovative SNAG coaching system, the new partnership will bring the virtues of lower cost, greater access and all-weather availability to the golf industry.
HS Opens Up For RJL
As part of Ransomes Jacobsenís 2012 Open Days, Howard Swan will be at the Ipswich HQ to explain how the RJL National 3-hole golf course and machine test venue was conceived, designed and built.
Howard will be relaying the story of how a small plot of waste ground was transformed into one of the golf industry's most original facilities.
